DIY Tape Chain

Okay, so I promised that I'd post the DIY for my tape chain, as seen here. It's so very simple as all you'll need are a tape and chain-hence it's name.

You'll want two types of chain: one small and one chunky. I chose for my chunky chain to be white, and the smaller to be a darker color.

The chunky chain will hang around your neck, so make sure to choose a length suited for your taste. Next, thread the smaller chain through the two end links of the chunkier chain. Afterwards, take the free ends of the smaller chain, and thread each one through the open circles of the tape.

Take the loose ends of the smaller chain, pull them until their isn't any slack in the front, and tie them together behind the back of the tape.
Voila! You're done!

Oh, Nasty Gal!

(chuck taylors-thrifted, velvet skirt-thrifted, jacket-thrifted, bathing suit, thrifted, toboggan-thrifted)

So like any other fashion blogger, I'm always searching through my favorite blog editorials such as Nasty Gal (my fav), UNIF, or Free People. However, I also belong to another group of fashion bloggers-the percentage of fashion bloggers who can only afford so much clothing per month i. e. no new clothing at times. (You know how it is...scrambling through  your closet hoping above all hope that there is an itsy pair of shorts or a dope dress that maybe slid behind your rack of clothes and was hiding all along.) Ha! Belonging to the latter group of bloggers, I'm forced to recreate certain pieces of clothing with materials that I have. Before you start to feel sorry for me, let me say that I loooooooooove DIYing. It brings out my creative side. In fact one of my most popular posts is on a DIY Miu Miu Glitter Sneaker tutorial I did a while back. Sometimes though, I find myself sighing when I don't want to hack at another piece of material with my handy scissors, and all I really want to do is push the purchase button, and watch as that smiley face UNIF tee(that every blogger seems to have a variation of) appears like magic in my cart!
Oh yeah, I decided that I'd had enough with the fuzzy bunnies on my braids, and took my braids out! I hadn't realized how much I missed my hair!

Vagabond

(collar-DIY,shoes-thrifted,shorts-thrifted/DIY,top-R21/DIY, beanie-DIY)

Wearing this, I felt like such a vagabond, but a kick-ass, I-don't-give-a-fuck if you don't like me sorta vagabond. There is something about a beautiful pair of shorts that just gives my mood an instant uplift, ya know? Also, my beanie is a DIY from a sweater. I don't know if I'll actually post the DIY or not...it's so easy, it's not worth the time. You could probably figure it out...

Short Love

(blouse-thrifted, shorts-thirfted/diy,chuck taylors-thrifted)

I was really pleased with my handiwork when I finished D-I-Ying(yup, totally just made that word up) these shorts from a pair of vintage jeans. It took a missed class(I totally skipped class to work on these!), several finger cuts(minor), and a number of hours until I was satisfied, but satisfied I am! They're comfy, and the best thing is they fit me perfectly! I mean, I don't have an apple bottom butt, but I have just enough to where the high-waisted cutoffs from any store-any!- usually end up with half of my bottom hanging out, which results in me having to wear tights underneath which could totally ruin an outfit, or worse, I'm forced to forfeit the shorts altogether! These shorts, however, because they are my own DIY, are perfection!

Miu Miu Glitter Sneakers DIY look-a-likes

I'm sure that every fashion blogger and their moms have done a DIY Miu Miu Glitter Sneaker look alike..well, with an exception to those bloggers who can afford them. I also know that I'm very late with this look, considering the Miu Miu sneakers came out this fall.

Started with a pair of thrifted Rue 21 sneakers. They were already glittered, but were horribly battered....

.....and scuffed...

...Things I used: Mr. Clean Eraser for removal of scuffs...

....Fabric Glue to make the glitter stick...

...Pour a generous amount of glitter onto the glue and shake the excess...

Finally, I added glue onto the top rubber portion and added small glass beads.

And voila!

Enjoy,
