Pink dogwood is my favorite type of tree, because of its flower blossoms. They're so delicate, pretty, and aromatic. I can remember, as a child, having a crush on one of my teachers. I wanted to be just like her when I grew up. I'd go and pick the fallen branches and blossoms from under our dogwood tree, and put them in a vase just for her. No matter how many times a week I'd gather blossoms for her she'd always tell me that she kept them on her table. Bless her heart! I saw a dogwood tree on my way home from the flea market yesterday and was inspired to paint my nails in awe of its beauty....
I swear, here where I live, we have no spring. Instead, the seasons jump from winter to summer, and judging by how humid and sticky it's already gotten, I'll be living in light flowy materials, such as this semi-sheer blouse by Jason Wu for Target!
tomato soup is one of my favorite dishes. It's my comfort food.I made a pot yesterday, because I'd been running around all day and I needed a pick-me-up, something that I could make quickly but would taste like I'd spent hours on it.
four beefy red tomatoes
as much okra as I wanted (not any one specific measurement)
extra virgin olive oil
(To be honest every ingredient could be added or cut to your liking---so simple :)
I like to start with my tomatoes, so I peel them, and afterwards cut them into bite size chunks
Put them in a deep pot for boiling
Prepared okra by slicing and placing in a separate pan for sauteing..here's where the evoo comes into play
After the okra was cooked to my liking, I dumped it into the boiling pot of tomatoes, added onion powder, and waited until the tomatoes were cooked (I can usually tell they're done by how much tomato juice has seeped form them...the more the liquid the more cooked)
After I plate the soup, I add one or two bay leaves, and swirl them around for the flavor, then immediately take them out..and presto...
A while ago I did a blog post on my collection of lipsticks, and I realized that my collection was quite pathetic, so I bought a couple of Nyx lipsticks under the guise of 'stepping up my lipstick game'. They're matte, so I've officially popped my matte cherry!
(swatched here, they appear to have a teensy bit of shine, but they're really matte)
(Nyx 'pure red' matte lipstick)
(Nyx 'natural' matte lipstick)
The packaging is super cute too! I like the way the color of the lipstick can be seen through the middle section of the tube. The little white hearts are an added bonus!
Between zumba class, gym time, and running, I was literally in my workout clothes until around 2 pm. I threw this outfit together to pick Jr. up from daycare. With a bright sweater like this, the rule is to let it outshine every other piece of the ensemble, but I don't follow rules, so I threw on my black poppy glittered flats!
white blouse-thrifted, sweater-pink rose, harem pants-roommates
I had to surpress my squeal of sheer joy, when I saw the price on these little honeys-fifteen smookeroos! I'm a sucker for anything glittery and golden, and I'm just so happy that my all-things-glittery appetite will be satisfied at least for some time. They remind me of the Miu Miu glitter oxfords circa 2010 minus the hefty guilt-inducing sum. Super comfortable and eye-catching: I couldn't ask for more.
