pretty in pink & a gold wrist chain

I've been playing with different makeup looks  quite often lately, and I decided to give the 'double winged eyeliner' look a go. I'm cursed with the unwanted talent of never being able to get both eyes to look completely the same, especially when it comes down to things like liquid eyeliner and other unstable makeup products..

...I'm so in love with this calf hair look-a-like belt that I thrifted recently! My favorite print is leopard, so that's an added bonus!

Also, the 'wrist chain' isn't exactly a wrist chain. It's a chain link that I got from the crafts section in Michael's. It works, though, if I must say so!

december crush list

To my dismay, I didn't get my major Christmas wish fulfilled-that is, to go shopping in New York, so my Dec crush list is completely void of garments of any kind. But, that wish will should be fulfilled mid-January, and in return, my January crush list should be smack-filled with clothes, clothes, and more clothes!

But, nevermind my moping about 'spilled milk', and let's talk about what did make the list!

I've never used a gel eyeliner before, but I can say without a doubt, that I'm never turning back. I love the consistency of it. Another plus is that I can change the shade of it by either using more layers or less. Say if I wanted a non-true black eyeliner, I'd probably only apply one layer, but if I want a truer kohl look, I'd apply two or so.

I was a bit disappointed when I first opened the jar, and saw exactly how little product it contained, but...a little goes a long way with this stuff, and at $7.94 it won't exactly dent your wallet!

I like my lipsticks to be tasteless, and non-sticky, and for me Rimmel London's Stay Glossy lipgloss is the holy grail of lipglosses.

To be completely honest, every Rimmel London nail polish that I own should be included in this month's crush list. I love this nail line so muuuch! Thickly pigmented and wide brushes made me fall for them. So, these two were selected for this month, not because I love them the most out of all, but because I couldn't possibly put all of my Rimmel London polishes here..(well, I most probably could, so that's not completely true, but I won't).

Ahhh! I'm such a Rimmel London whore!

Best moisturizing lip balm I've ever tried. Hands down. I've been wanting to try the Maybelline  Baby Lips Lip Balm for a while, and I finally bought it about 3ish weeks ago. Smells like coconut, and tastes like coconut with a hint of vanilla. I'm not sure if the taste is intentional, though. It isn't too strong of a taste to where it's obvious that it's supposed to taste like cocunut, but more of  a hint. Eh, whatever. I love it!

Sidenote: I do think they could've done more with the actual tube, though. It's a bit bland and lacks any type of decor. I mean, it's just in your face blue.....

(yes, I'm trying different looks for my signature. I haven't quite figured out exactly what I want yet. Bear with me. )

lazy day

....Contrary to the post title, today was a very busy day consisting of me running after Jr and making sure that he refrained from sticking his fingers into a socket or tearing up my beloved mags(He got to one, that little booger..), and making sure that he stuck to the appropriate baby activities like digging up his nose while managing to look completely adorable and filling his diaper with unmentionable yuckiness.

...But, it's currently his nap time, and like always, I like to spend my free time doing what I like best. Typing out my thoughts...while sipping out of my favorite mug, and trying to finish my current read Riptide by Catherine Coulter.

And, yes...It is afternoon, and I am still in my hub's pajamas.
Don't judge me.

Merry Christmas...!

So, I know that I was supposed to do the whole 'five days of holiday nails' thing, but....I went to a Christmas party last night that a friend hosted, and yeah, I was in no state to paint my nails when I returned home..

Anywho, I'm sure that you can forgive me, seeing as it's Christmas..
I'm proud to say that I finally did some Christmas shopping and the presents for Baby are under the tree.
The hubs and I opened ours earlier..(I couldn't wait being the impatient person that I am)

Merry Christmas!

There's nothing more Christmas-y than hot cocoa in my favorite mug and Laughing Cow Cheese on a blueberry bagel! Yum!

Feast your eyes on this confection of sugar. Sure it's a bit run down, but still it was yummy!

Wrapped Nails...

So the theme for today's nails is 'wrapped', as in wrapped gifts under the Christmas tree...or in my case, gifts that have not yet been bought or wrapped and put under the Christmas tree.

The shade I used is Hard Metal by Rimmel London..

Santa's Suit Nails...

As promised, I'm delivering five days of holiday nail looks, so here is the second...
I had started another look which involved bows and wrapping paper, but it didn't come out as I'd hoped, so I went for this look..

Also, I'm a dunce, and forgot that the most unforgiving time of day to take photos would be at night, and I literally just finished my nails, so the lighting may be off..
...but no worry, I took some with flash, and some without so you could see how it would look in various light settings..

Enjoy!

I picked up this color ages ago from a F21, and although it's called 'fuschia', it looks like a true red to me..

five days 'til Christmas...

So, because school is over for the semester, I'm currently unemployed, and I have no reason to dress up because I have nowhere to go...absolutely nowhere, I'm stuck in the house. I hate not having a reason to dress up and go out, but, alas, I can't use needing diapers or some other not-so-needed- baby item  as an excuse to do some shopping/window shopping, or the hubs might start to get a tad bit suspicious.

Seeing that we have five days until Christmas-eeeekkkk... five days- I decided to do a holiday nail look for the next five days until Christmas.

.... even though I am lazing around as if there is nothing to be done, I still have to shop for the hubs and baby's gifts..I know, I'm such a procrastinator.

Anywho, on to the first look..

I call it Bubble Gummy Jazz...

Yeah, my nail art skills suck....lol

Oh, Santa...!!

Santa, are you there? It's me. I'm only asking for one thing for Christmas.
I'd like to go thrifting in New York. Anywhere in New York.
That is all. Thanks.

P.S.
Could you throw in these as a stocking stuffer? I have a huge stocking just in case you do.

I hear you sighing, Santa, but don't worry. These aren't Jeffrey Campbell Lita's, but a knockoff, and only  $26. What a steal, huh, Santa? You can find them here

Thanks in advance, Santa!

Burgundy Flirt and Rags to Riches

I've never been so happy about any nail polish as I am these two Rimmel London polishes that I picked up the other day.  What made me so excited about these is the width and shape of the brushes. I abhor nail polishes that have the long thin brushes where you can only apply one sickly thin strip of polish at a time, taking forever to paint one nail. These brushes are wide enough that they cover an entire nail in one swipe-even my thumb nail-well almost.

I know that I'm raving about these polishes like an addict, but, if I were to be honest, I'd have to admit that the color of the Rags to Riches polish  (vomit green) was very disappointing. In the store, it looked more like a hunter green (which is what I wanted because it seems more christmassy), but when I swatched it later, it's like a pale vomit-ey green. It also doesn't help that there seems to be a scary amount of very finely crushed particles of glitter thrown in there, which just makes it look even more pale.

I like the touch of royalty that the London crowns add to the packaging...

But yeah, they have more pros than cons in my book. Definitely.

Eeek! I've been included in a Links À La Mode roundup!

Checking IFB has become part of my every morning ritual, and no I'm not ashamed to say that in the least. I think every blogger who wants to become a professional blogger( and not a self proclaimed one at that) should make checking IFB a part of their routine blogging schedule. I mean, seriously, you can find great tips for blogging, taking self portraits, meet fellow bloggers, and a host of other blog-related things all there.

Of course, you must know that I'm getting at something here, and it's monumental for me. So monumental, in fact, that I haven't stopped grinning since I  logged onto IFB to discover that I made this week's top 20. AAAAAAHHHHHHH!

I'm so freaking overjoyed, surprised (not that I thought my submitted post wasn't good enough), and so freaking happy right now!

The post that I submitted and selected was my Miu Miu Glitter Sneaker DIY (which you can find on the right in December's posts) or here:

http://heartifb.com/2011/12/15/links-a-la-mode-the-ifb-weekly-roundup-84/

....And for you dolls who just want to go straight to seeing who made the list like me(waves hands and jumps up and down)..here is your clickable list.

Anyways, because I can't take a celebratory shot, as it's the middle of the day, I'm going to take a break from   chores and grab a handful of jelly beans and chow down while sipping on an ice cold diet coke, because that's how I get down!

Eeeeeek! :)

Cat eyes and a milk maid braid

I've been wanting to try a hairstyle incorporating the milk maid braid for ever, but never really got around to it. I had some time on my hands yesterday, and after seeing Tika Sumpter rock the 'braid', I decided to go ahead and give it a try. Because my hair is in mini twists right now, I used a chunk of loose braiding hair to create the milk maid braid.

After, finishing that, I felt a little inspired and decided to try a different eye look-the cat eye. Well, more like a kitten eye. It's not as dramatic of a winged eyeliner look as the cat eye, so. I don't usually wear dramatic winged eyeliner because (1) I don't have a steady hand, and haven't found a felt tipped eyeliner that gives me more stability (2) I prefer not to use a pencil for winged liner, even though it's more steady (3) I can never get both eyes to match. I used Black Radiance liquid liner.

Also, excuse the lighting on some of these shots. I took them at the worst possible time of day to take pics- the afternoon! I tried to fix them with my very limited knowledge of photo editing, but didn't really succeed.

Recent thrifts...

So, as luck would  have it, I never have time to visit the thrift shop on base, and when I do, it's usually closed. But, with  yesterday being the last day of class for the semester, today, I was finally able to get a chance to visit during store hours and browse a little. I was a little disappointed at first, as it seemed that the merchandise consisted mostly of handmade goods and trinkets. Imagine my surprise, when, turning to go, I caught a glimpse of houndstooth pattern peeking out of a pile of rubbish! I've been captivated by houndstooth lately for some reason. So, I hurried over and snatched it up and discovered this late 80's/ early 90's style button down smock, and smashed up against it was this navy blue dress in a similar style! I paid seven bucks for the both of them. What a bargain! I will wear the navy dress as is. It's beautiful with it's simple lines as is. The houndstooth smock is a bit too large for me, but that's fine, because I plan to rip it apart and sew it back in a style more becoming than what it is. Probably make it into a straight mini with long sleeves. Now all I need is a pair of red wedges, and I'm officially in heaven!

This blouse I thrifted two days ago. It's slightly sheer with a ruched collar, and I'm loving the pleated details in the front as well as the pleats atop of the sleeve that give the appearance of a 'puff'.

Currently wearing on the nails...

...I'm a tad bit ashamed to say I've been wearing this color for about 3 days. It will be coming off today, though. Horrible fashion faux pas, I know...but then there's the boring things in life to preoccupy me such as laundry, cooking..ya know, those things you wish you had a maid for. Granted, I'd abandon a sink full of dishes if I got wind of a 50% off sale of Jeffrey Campbell's Litas. Needless to say, that situation hasn't arisen yet.

Side note: I broke a nail! I'm finding that growing my nails to a decent length is a pain in the caboose.

white n' blue

This is one of the most comfortable blouses that I own. It's so soft and silky that I'm seriously considering remaking it into a pajama set. Seriously.  The only thing that irks me about this blouse is the buttons. They're too  big and too bulky and they're made of this awful reflective plastic that changes colors when the light hits it. However, those little plastic nightmares didn't and won't keep me from wearing this blouse. Maybe someday, I'll get around to switching them for buttons more modern. Maybe. Probably not. Yeah, most probably not.

Opposites attract...

I've found that when pairing my outfits fall into a certain pairing pattern: either loose on top and snug on bottom or vice versa. It seems a bit tacky to me to wear an all snug outfit (unless paired with a loose cardigan/blazer) or an outfit that billows out enormously-which is a bit impractical anyways.

I paired this look with my Miu Miu DIY Glitter Sneaker look-a-likes.
